Meeting time is 6:30PM.

A motion at our last meeting to change Engine Rule #9 will read:"Maximum free length allowed 2.120", this will replace the wording of "Max free ht. 2.10". All other engine spring specifications will remain the same.

At our May 6 meeting we voted to remove ALL Wickerbills but due to the 30 day rule we should have voted on it at our Oct. 14 meeting. This not having been done we will vote on this at our Dec. 2nd meeting. This will be an addition under Car Rules #5: Top wing specs: and will read: "#7.

No Wickerbill".

The protest was upheld, which resulted in Don Grable being awarded the 2008 RSCS Overall Championship and Brandon Schure moving from first to second place.

Overall standings for the 2008 season have been updated to reflect this change as well as the 10 point bonus that was awarded to all drivers attending an earlier RSCS meeting.

Brandon Schure takes the 2008 RSCS Overall Title! (And a protest ruling takes it away)

Congratulations to Brandon Schure and his crew for taking the 2008 Renegade Sprint Car Series Overall Title. Schure in car #21 finished the season with 808 total points, followed by Don Grable in the C2 (listed as 29X since that's the car he started out in) with 802 points and Billy Roy Harris in the 2W with 748 points.

Congratulations to these drivers for their podium finishes and to all RSCS drivers, car owners and crews for providing another exciting season of sprint car racing!

Letter to the President from Don Grable

Note: Orginal signed letter on file with RSCS Administration. The following has been edited to remove addresses and phone numbers.

Don Grable - RSCS Member/Driver
Frank Cabral Motorsports
Performance Automotive
#C2
El Paso, TX

To Whom It May Concern:

This is a written protest to the governing bodies of the Renegade Sprint Car Series regarding the Renegade Sprint Car Series rule "Points" #2 that states, "For the season RSCS championship, all drivers will be allowed one throw out race."

As a driver and member of the Renegade Sprint Car Series since its conception, the rule has been governed as only drivers who have competed in all RSCS races in a given season are allowed one throw out race. With twenty-four races in the 2008 championship, any driver to compete in all twenty-four events will count their best twenty-three with all other competitors counting all of their races. In the written rule provided, there is no distinction on a disqualification.

Furthermore, in accordance with RSCS policy, any rule change must first be floored then voted on and enforced based on the majority count.

In closing, I Don Grable protest the ruling of the RSCS officials in the counting of 22 races in my team's 2008 season.

Thank You,

Don Grable

Letter to the President from #3S Team

Mr. Joe Novak
President
Renegade Sprint Car Series

Mr. Novak

This is a formal protest of the post race tech procedures for the 2008 racing season for El Paso Speedway Park and Southern New Mexico Speedway.

There have been inconsistencies in tools and procedures. There were inconsistencies in engine assembly pre tech and post race tech, engines are teched during assembly and found within spec only to be found illegal during post race tech. This leads us to believe either the pre race or post race tech was done incorrectly. This has been a problem throughout the racing season at both tracks. We feel that the tools being used are inaccurate or the people operating them are incompetent or both.

If you would like to comment or participate in this protest, please email Joe Novak through the Renegade Sprint site www.renegadesprints.org/.

Respectfully,

Gus Carney Mike Hulbert
Carney Racing Owner, 3s

2008 SNMS Track Champion Crowned

Going into the final race of the RSCS 2008 Season, the Southern NM Speedway title was still up in the air. JR Patton, #86, led Brandon Schure, #21, by only one point and Royal Jones, #131, was right behind them only 4 points out of the lead.

JR Patton took the SNMS Championship by finishing third in the 10/4/08 Main Event, with Brandon Schure coming in fourth. Royal Jones finished 7th in that race, earning enough points to retain his third place overall 2008 SNMS standing behind Schure..

Congratulations to JR Patton for his win and to all RSCS drivers and crews for another great Renegade Winged Sprint Season!

10/04/2008 Results Posted

Results from the final RSCS race of the 2008 season have been posted in the Weekly Results section. Race 8-8-08

This is an answer to a valid question presented by one of our R.S.C.S. team owners in regard to the consistency of my post race tech inspections.

Friday - August 8, 2008 after the main event I had to DQ the C2 car for a nose wing rule violation. The C2 car actually finished in 6th place not 5th as was reported to me. I notified a tract official to advise the pay window of this DQ. Approximately fifteen minutes later track officials called a R.S.C.S. officer to confirm this DQ. The DQ of the C2 car was rescinded because of a rule misunderstanding that only a top five finisher can be DQ'd. Actually, any heat race or main event finisher can be checked for anything the tech inspector chooses to inspect. I try to tech the top five or sometimes the top three in the interest of getting home before dawn. Again, this is a decision of your tech inspector as to how many places and what will be checked. Yes, the C2 car DQ should have held up, but a mistake was made due to a communication breakdown between R.S.C.S. officers. Steps have been taken to hopefully not have this problem present itself for the balance of this season.

I have tried to do the best I can with the limited teching tools the club was left with this season. Several new teching tools are currently being purchased by your club for next season. Some of these tools will be available for me to use for the balance of this season which will result in more accurate post race engine and tire inspection.

Also, if any R.S.C.S. team owners have any questions about the legality of any R.S.C.S. engine, please direct these questions to me. Questions regarding engine legality do not come under the jurisdiction of the president Joe Novak. I will be more than happy to follow up on any valid questions any team has in regard to the legality of any R.S.C.S. active car.

Hopefully, the tech inspector for the 2009 season will have better and more consistent tools to use, and as a result will be able to keep the teching more consistent and consistently keep more teams more consistently happy.

Your 2008 tech inspector,
